If you have a beautiful frame to repurpose, check out my DIY Picture Frame Ideas for Decorating!
This is a project I worked on after we moved into our house, but I like it so much, I wanted to share it here. I was at Hobby Lobby one day and saw this beautiful frame marked down to clearance. I really liked it, but it was damaged with a large chip about 1 inch along the inside of the frame. So I bought it that day with the intention to fix the chip.
When I brought the frame home, I got out the wood filler repair product. I filled in the chipped area. I wanted to paint the frame gold, but knew the metallic paint might accentuate the repair. So I decided to paint the perimeter of the frame gold and the interior of the frame a flat white. I love using spray paint because it is so quick and easy to use. However, you are better off doing a project in the grass covered with a painting drape to avoid overspray getting on your concrete (I know from experience).

Picture Frame after the Repair and Painting:
Once you have your frame painted the way you like it, it is time for hanging and deciding what to feature inside the frame. As you can see, I have chosen a plaque with cherubs. I have also painted this with the gold paint and lightly sponged the cherubs with white paint to make them stand out. Inside the frame, I have also placed sconces with candles. This is the artwork featured in my guest bedroom, and I’m quite pleased with it.
DIY Picture Frame Ideas for Decorating:
The possibilities are endless on what you choose to feature in your frame. You could use a family photo in another frame. You could use a favorite piece of artwork. Or you could use keepsake shadow boxes of your kids’ mementos…and on, and on, and on. Have fun with this project as you come up with your very own DIY Picture Frame Ideas for Decorating.
