Easy Puff Pastry Recipe Raspberry Flowers
I have seen images of pastry flowers made with apples before. They were really pretty, but it is not apple season right now is south central Illinois. So I thought that I might be able to use puff pastry to make my flowers. I must say, these turned out pretty good.
For the ingredients, be sure to purchase the puff pastry sheets and not the puff pastry shells. You will want your cream cheese very soft. Leave it out on the counter for several hours or carefully microwave it for a minute or two. I like to use the butter-flavored cooking spray to achieve the buttery flavor. You can use raspberry jam or preserves. With the preserves, you will get a more chunkier filling.
How to cut the puff pastry:
When it is time to roll out the puff pastry, roll it to a 11 x 15 inch size on a lightly floured surface. In the middle, cut a squiggly line down the middle to mimic the pedals. Now you have two halves. Divide the two halves into thirds, making a straight line in the first third and another squiggly line in the last third. Do the same on the other half. Refer to the image as above.
After the filling has been spread over the pastry, you will start to form your flower. You want to start rolling them very, very loosely. You will gently pinch the bottom of the pastry flower (the flat end) before you place it into a sprayed muffin cup. Then you will spread out the petals to try to fill out the muffin cup. Using the end of a wooden spoon, gently open the center of the flower and place a fresh raspberry in the middle before baking.

- 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets)
- 4 ounces cream cheese, very soft
- 1/2 cup raspberry jam or preserves
- 12 fresh raspberries
- butter-flavored cooking spray
- 1/2 cup red colored sugar
Thaw the puff pastry according to the package directions. On a lightly-floured surface, roll out each pastry sheet to 11 x 15 inches. Run a squiggly line down the long center of the pastry sheet. Dividing each half of that sheet into thirds, make a straight line down the next third. Last, make another squiggly line down the final third on that side. Do the same on the other side.
Combine the very soft cream cheese and the raspberry jam or preserves. Using a pastry brush, brush half of this mixture over the entire sheet of puff pastry.
Very loosely roll up the flowers, gently pinching the flat bottom of each petal. Place these in a sprayed muffin tin and begin to spread out the pedals. Using the end of a wooden spoon, make a hole in the middle of the flower and place a raspberry inside.
Do the same process to the other puff pastry.
Bake in a 400 degree preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and gently tent the muffin pan with foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes or until golden brown.
After removing from the oven, cool for about 10 minutes in the pan. Lightly spray the top of each flower with the cooking spray and immediately dip the top petals into a bowl of red colored sugar.
