Easy King Cake Recipe Cinnamon Rolls will be the easiest yeast rolls you will ever make. That's because they are made with frozen bread dough. NOTE: There is thawing time and 1 hour of raising time not included in the time given.
Thaw bread dough according to package directions (I chose to thaw in the refrigerator overnight.)
Roll out the thawed dough on a floured surface to 8 x 20.
Brush the melted butter over the entire surface, leaving 1/2 inch edge around parameter not buttered.
Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, pecans and salt together and sprinkle evenly over the entire surface.
Lay the plastic baby where you wish.
Start rolling up the rolls along the long end (you will probably have to do this one end a little at a time.)
When the entire log is rolled, have your cooking sprayed baking sheet nearby.
Drag one end of the log onto the baking sheet, and then drag the other end.
Make a circle out of the log, ensuring the seam is down.
Make 15 equal cuts along the log but not cutting all the way through (leave the center connected by about an inch or two.
Carefully flip the roll on its side to lay the roll flat (see my picture.)
To raise the rolls, preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
Place the rolls in the oven and turn it off.
Let the rolls raise in the warm oven for an hour until they have doubled in size.
After the rolls have raised and doubled, remove them from the oven, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and bake for 25 minutes until they are golden brown.
Remove from the oven and prepare the icing while cooling.
Mix all the icing ingredients together (be sure to cream the cream cheese and butter to remove lumps.)
If you wish to transfer to a cake plate or serving platter, with another person, use several spatulas to transfer.
Icing the rolls that have cooled at least 10 minutes.
Sprinkle the colored sugars over the icing.
